This is a wonderful article about a really interesting lady. Rosalie Edge was a wealthy socialite and suffragette who stumbled upon bird conservation in her later years, purchasing an entire mountain and establishing the first bird sanctuary in the US.

This would really cheer Chaz’s dad up! I will send it to him!

That’s great! You can tell him also that I am pretty sure where my dad lives now has so many hawks because of Rosalie’s hard work. They are everywhere!

Thank you. I remember learning about of Hawk Mountain as a child at an Audubon Society Film Viewing in the 1970’s. But the memory has faded and it was nice to get a non Society history. This was a longer version that I found very interesting.

I was shocked that they used to go and shoot the hawks for sport!! Who would do that?! That is horrible. Thank goodness for feminists!

Seriously! I have a real problem with sport hunting. You are not going to even eat it, so it’s entirely a waste.
