My New Year’s Resolutions from 2024 were carried over to 2025 as I did not really meet them.
My goals were to try new fruits as much as possible and new pasta shapes. I did not try any new fruits and only one new pasta shape (rooster crest) in 2024, so I have rolled them over.
I’m excited that I have gotten to March and I’ve tried a bunch of different fruits and this week I found Pineberries at ShopRite.
They are similar to strawberries but do have a slightly different flavor. A bit of tart mango and pineapple. They’re very pretty in my bowl with strawberries.

Pineberries! I have never heard of these. This description reminds me of pawpaws!

Cool. Those are an interesting “sport” or variety. Red fruits evolved to attract mostly birds but also primates. So a white fruit tends to be less useful for bird and mammal dispersion. And my guess is that it also reduces fruit losses to birds. I’ve heard they’re even tastier than the red ones. I’ll have to purchase some later this evening.

Truthfully I prefer the red ones. These are really cool looking, but the taste is more like an unripe strawberry with hints of pineapple and mango. They are really cool looking!
Now to find some cloudberries that are not just in jam!
They aren’t as sweet as pawpaws. They have a tartness to them, and the mango and pineapple flavor is on the backend
