My dad was in a union so when we were young we always went to a dentist. Nowadays dental is either not a part of ones healthcare plan or you have to pay extra. I personally go to NYU Dental School for all of my dental needs because the pricing is reasonable and they are supervised by board certified dentists.
This woman in Long Island was treating people in her home and she was NOT a dentist. Imagine being so desperate that you would seek dental care in someone’s home. I can think of a myriad of critical care issues that could arise because a home can’t be sterilized like a dental office.
Dental care is critical. The plaque on your gums can eventually make it to your arteries. I had to quit smoking because for me it was causing periodontal disease and some bone and gum loss. Now Im hypervigilant with my dental care , I brush, floss and use mouthwash twice a day. I carry floss in my purse. I change my toothbrush every three months. I also go for dental cleanings at NYU Dental every 3 months. The dental hygienist students seemed a bit upset that they couldn’t find any bad hard tartar to scrape off🤣
Dental care is critical. The idea that it is separate from regular medical is just not even logical with how the health of your mouth can impact the rest of your body. I’m glad you have NYU near you. RWJ has a similar dental school in Newark. My husband is on a list because he needs significant reconstructive work that even with insurance is just not accessible financially. RWJ also takes dental insurance if you have it to help reduce the cost even more.
