Me and other folks are writing a guide and we need some thoughts from all sides of the political aisles rooted in justice.

I’d like to pose a question for thoughtful discussion: If you don’t align with the Democratic or Republican Party, what specific, actionable solutions do you propose to address societal challenges and our current situation? Criticizing the Democratic Party alone isn’t productive—I’m genuinely curious to hear one or two constructive idea that goes beyond critiques or symbolic gestures (like food drives, which, while kind, don’t solve systemic issues—and sort of dismantles the food provision IN OUR CONSTITUTION) or hang out with me, I’m better—

What tangible efforts are you championing or ideas that are percolating in your head that you think might actively inspire and empower people rather than fostering division or cynicism?

To clarify, I’m asking in good faith: What is one practical, positive step or policy proposal you believe could make a meaningful difference? Demoralizing rhetoric or nihilistic “burn it all down” approaches in my opinion only deepen polarization. If we’re striving for progress, collaboration, and solutions mattering— I’d appreciate insights grounded in cooperation and forward-thinking action.

If I use your response, and if you’d like, we will credit you.

As someone who has been in our state Green Party for many years, but also having to reckon with _real politics_ in the state of Wiscolandia, I have to roll with the “Red versus Blue” divide on all issues big and small. What I find is that virtually every issue, local, state or national, resolves to the _class issues_ causing the divide. What economic class benefits from [Policy X] and which experiences loss ? That helps with navigating.

Are you stating that education would be something people would need, or possible ideas of socioeconomic class analysis?

I am left of the Democratic Party but I am a registered Democrat because no other party comes closer to being able to stop the Republicans. I am very active with the Democratic Party, volunteering for candidates and promoting more progressive issues within the party. I understand the the Democratic Party still supports Israel, supports capitalism, and generally upholds a system that oppresses marginalized people, but they are still better than the Republicans and there are not enough leftists to tip the scales farther left.

Possibly getting more leftists in there — with the idea of pushing left. I do think the blue dogs are on their last gasp!

I think we need to rebuild both organizational institutions and construct appealing visions. My problem with the Democratic Party was they became co-opted by Triangulating Neoliberals that ceded the vision to the big corporations and deliberately destroyed institutions that could rival them. The Green New Deal is not a bad plan. It’s quite nice. The 50 states program should be rebuilt and we could raise money with a booth where people pay $5 to kick a Rahm Emmanuel mannequin in the gonads. The idea is to be ready the next time the crisis occurs, which I think is soon, so that twits like Rahm who derailed progressive action in 1992 & 2008 and made a mess in 2016 don’t destroy an opportunity again.
