“ One of my most favorite quotes pertaining to art, and loneliness, is by the writer James Baldwin. In a 1961[interview](https://studsterkel.wfmt.com/programs/james-baldwin-discusses-his-book-nobody-knows-my-name-more-notes-native-son) with Studs Terkel, Baldwin said, “You read something which you thought only happened to you, and you discover that it happened 100 years ago to Dostoyevsky. This is a very great liberation for the suffering, struggling person, who always thinks that [they are] alone. This is why art is important.” [Art for the art of loneliness](https://www.dailyuw.com/opinion/art-for-the-art-of-loneliness/article_6d31505e-f4d6-11ef-9f78-97202a5b159f.html)
